Superstar Akshay Kumar announced on Wednesday that Bhumi Pednekar is starring next to her in Aanand L Rai’s feature film “Rakshabandhan”. The duo has previously collaborated on films such as “Toilet: Ek Prem Katha” (2017) and “Durgamati” starring Pednekar, in which Kumar co-produced. “When you’re happy, it shows. And we really are. To have @Bhumipednekar on board the #RakshaBandhan,” Kumar wrote on Twitter along with a photo taken with Pednekar and Rai.
The film was written by longtime Rai collaborator and National Award-winning screenwriter Himanshu Sharma, known for the “Zero”, “Raanjhanaa” and “Tanu Weds Manu” franchises. “Rakshabandhan” is described as a special tale that celebrates “relationships in the most beautiful way”.
The film will be Kumar’s second collaboration with Rai, after the film “Atrangi Re,” starring Dhanush and Sara Ali Khan.
Meanwhile, in the professional field, Pednekar was last seen in films such as “Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare” and “Durgamati”, both of which premiered last year. Next he will be seen with Rajkummar Rao in the movie “Badhaai Do”. The film is the second part of the “Badhaai Ho” franchise. The film is directed by Harshvardhan Kulkarni and was previously written by Suman Adhikary and Akshat Ghildial who wrote “Badhaai Ho”. In addition, Bhumik also has Karan Johar’s multi-star ‘Takht’ in the pipeline.
Speaking of Akshay, he has an exciting range of films. He has films like ‘Atrangi Re’, ‘Raksha Bandhan’, ‘Bachchan Pandey’, ‘Sooryavanshi’, ‘Bell Bottom’, ‘Ram Setu’, ‘Prithviraj’ and ‘Mission Lion’ in his kitten.
Returning to “Rakshabandhan”, Kumar sisters, Alka Bhatia and Rai introduce themselves. The film is sponsored by Color Yellow Production along with Cape of Good Films.
