Apple WWDC 2021: All of Apple’s looks as developers search the App Store to change the WWDC 2021 event

Apple Inc. CEO Tim Cook and his team are addressing one of the most important audiences on Monday, and at the time the iPhone Maker is defending it in court in front of its App Store practices, they started an annual conference for app developers.

The Apple Worldwide Developers Conference, held for the second year in a row as a result of the pandemic, typically attracts thousands of app developers, many of whom hope the company will hear their concerns.

Last week, celebrity and technology podcast host Marco Arment hosted a blog post last week arguing that Apple leaders need to acknowledge “two obvious truths”: that apps add value to Apple and that developers themselves attract customers. It’s not just Apple’s show.

“The thought that we need to kiss Apple’s feet for allowing Bully and Gaslight Developers to add billions of dollars to their platform is greedy, dirty, and morally reprehensible, it’s very offensive,” Arment wrote.

Apple did not immediately return a request for Reuters to provide feedback on its App Store policies.

Apple’s control over what it controls on its app platform and commissions of between 15% and 30% on digital sales have been under regulatory control and has been at the heart of the three-week antitrust lawsuit brought by “Fortnite” Creator Epic Games. the federal judge is considering how to govern.

Apple said its App Store practices are growing the mobile software market, creating an environment for paid applications that consumers trust.

Last week, a company-funded study highlighted that it found applications generated $ 443 billion in sales and sales last year, 90% of which were exempt from Apple Commissions.

“The result isn’t just incredible apps for users: it’s a job, it’s an opportunity, and it’s an unspeakable innovation that will drive economies around the world for many years to come,” Apple CEO Tim Cook said in a note on the research.

Not all developers have negative feelings, said Ben Bajarin, CEO of Creative Strategies, who surveyed Apple Developers and found that more than 90% found no intention to stop making apps for Apple devices.

Smaller independent developers who earn a million dollars or less a year and pay lower fees feel more positive about the value that Apple provides than developers from larger companies that pay higher fees, according to a survey of more than 400 developers so far.

However, some complaints are widespread, with more than half of developers saying the fees should be limited to 10%, and many want clearer reasons for rejecting apps from the App Store and how to solve such problems, Bajarin said.

“Support for developers is certainly a serious issue,” he said.
