Milkha Singh Admitted to Chandigarh Hospital for “Immersion in Oxygen Levels” Athletics News



Milkha Singh, the legendary Indian sprinter, was admitted on Thursday to Chandigarh hospital for lowering oxygen levels. Milkha Singh’s 82-year-old wife, Nirmal Kaur, had to be taken to the hospital ICU last Saturday because of an increased need for oxygen.

“At the request of the family, Mr. Milkha Singh was discharged from the hospital today in a stable condition. He has oxygen and nutrition support,” said Fortis Hospital Mohali.

“Ms. Milkha Singh had to be taken to the ICU last night due to increased oxygen needs. She remains stable.”

Milkha Singh and Nirmal Kaur Covid were being treated for pneumonia.

Milkha Singh was admitted to a private hospital last Monday while his wife was admitted next Wednesday.

Jeev Milkha Singh, the son of these and a former golfer, arrived in Chandigarh from Dubai on Saturday and his daughter Mona Mohali also arrived a few days ago.

Milkha Singh is a four-time gold medalist at the Asian Games and a 1958 Commonwealth Games champion.

He is also remembered for his fourth place in the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome.

It was given to Milkha Singh in Padma Shri in 1959.
