“No other players should be subject to retirement”: FATHER Secretary-General Rohan Bopanna’s comments | Olympic News

Anil Dhupar, the general secretary of the All-India Tennis Association (AITA), on Monday called on tennis star Rohan Bopanna to “not be dependent on the withdrawal of other players” to dock at the Olympics. Bopanna hit DAD in the Tokyo Olympics qualifiers because he was deceived by the players and everyone else. The tennis player said that the International Tennis Federation (ITF) had never accepted entry for him and Sumit Nagal and made it clear that no change was allowed after the deadline for submission of nominations unless he was injured or ill.

“The ITF has never accepted Sumit Nagal and my entry. The ITF made it clear that no changes were allowed after the end of the nomination period (June 22) except for Injury / Illness. The FAT has deceived players, the government, the media and everyone else by still saying the possibility ( sic) “, tweeted Bopanna.

The General Secretary of the FATHER made clear the information about the Qualifications for the Tokyo Olympics, and said that the Federation has done its best to allow the maximum number of players to participate in the Games.

“We have made an extra effort to make the men’s doubles entry. Unfortunately Divij and Rohan’s entries were not accepted and were on the waiting list, then all Sudden Sumit got individual tickets. We contacted the Sumi to go or not to go. that he had, ”Dhupar told ANI.

“All proceedings began on June 17 and we also wrote about the possibility that being a single Sumit player also has the right to be a pair. That’s why we changed the designation from Rohan-Divij to Rohan and Sumit for the Tokyo Olympics.

“All the offices were closed on Saturday and Sunday, the ITF is closed. I don’t know why it says all that. If you’re very good why are you dependent on people’s retirement? You’re a world-class Olympic player on your own, why are you dependent on retirement.

“I don’t understand … and where the Federation’s problem is. DAD has done his best to get Rohan and the doubles players to go to the Olympics so we can also play mixed doubles. It’s not up to the Federation to get into the Olympics. There are laws and regulations for that.” explained Dhupar.

Dhupar also said that the FATHER has not deceived anyone and that the players who failed in the test at the Olympics have done so because of the classification.

“We have not been deceived, we have tried as much as possible to keep them on the board, they have not succeeded because of their classification. If Rohan and Sumit are not accepted, Rohan and Divij’s candidacies are there. We are still trying. Send Sumit, what can I do? if it has, ”Dhupar said.

In the men’s singles, Nagal qualified for the next Tokyo Olympics according to the playoffs.
