Croatian carmaker Rimac has unveiled the Nerva hyper-electric car, which claims to have 1,914 horsepower and 2,360 Nm of torque. It is a production version of Nerva Rimac’s C_Two electric concept, which premiered at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. The hypercar has a claimed speed of 258 mph and can reach 0 to 60 mph in just 1.85 seconds.
Rimac will build only 150 units of the performance vehicle and has a price of 2 million euros ( ₹About 17.8 million) each. Mate Rimac, founder and CEO of the company, will personally test and sign each hyper car before delivering it to customers. “This is the car I had in mind when I embarked on the ‘impossible’ journey ten years ago. The name ‘Nerva’ comes from a local reference about the fast, powerful and unexpected Lightning Storm that is moving rapidly along the Croatian coast across the Mediterranean Sea. Hypercar emphasizes the ability to cut the wind by blinking an eye. Its aesthetic features and design elements are similar to those found in other hyper-electric cars. It has butterfly scissor doors, aggressive air diffusers and cravat-shaped air intakes on each side. It also gets lightweight and forged alloy wheels, Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes and an active rear wing.

Rimac says the hyper car is designed in a way to improve aerodynamic efficiency. The profile of the bonnet, the shape of the columns and the design of the diffusers, distributors and radiators have been studied and refined to improve air flow and perforation. Inlets and cooling channels have been developed to increase the cooling efficiency of the brake and train engine systems, improving by 30% at low speeds and by seven per cent at high speeds.
Rimac Nerva’s cabin can accommodate two people. Digital displays eliminate the need to switch between switches and buttons, leaving only the essential functions of touch controls. It has a trio of high definition TFT screens. The automaker said it has developed the world’s first AI (Artificial Intelligence) driver-trainer that is capable of evaluating performance and providing guidance in optimizing and improving the driver’s career path. It is a combination of 12 ultrasonic sensors, 13 cameras, 6 radars and the latest NVIDIA Pegasus operating system. The Driver Coach will be available in 2022 and will be launched through airborne upgrades.
At the base of the Rimac Nerva’s electric power train is a 120kWh 69k-cell H-shaped battery, designed from scratch.
Rimac Nerva has already entered production and customer shipments will begin later this year.
