Tokyo Olympics: UP Government to donate 6 million gold medal winners to State | Olympic News

The government of Uttar Pradesh has announced a cash prize of 6 million euros for all state athletes who will carry gold medals at the Tokyo Olympics. The UP government will award 4 million and 2 million silver and bronze medals to the athletes at the demonstration ceremony respectively. As for the athletes participating in the team events, they have announced 3 million gold medals, and 2 and 1 million silver and bronze medals will be awarded to the winners respectively.

In addition, all athletes participating in the Tokyo Olympics from the UP will be awarded 10 lakhs regardless of their status in the four-year test.

A total of 10 UP players will represent India at the Tokyo Olympics. Before the big show, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath congratulated the athletes.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MYAS) plans to postpone the national awards for a couple of weeks to get the Olympic medal at the upcoming Tokyo 2020 Games.

A source familiar with the development told ANI: “It was discussed at a meeting of key officials in the department. We have nominations, but it will be at a standstill because we wanted to include Olympic medals. The final call will be made soon. “

The Tokyo Olympics will start on July 23 and end on August 8 while the National Sports Awards are given annually by the President of India at Rashtrapati Bhavan on August 29.


National sports awards include Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award, Arjuna Award, Dronacharya Award and Dhyan Chand Award. The event coincides with the anniversary of the birth of major hockey legend Dhyan Chand.

To date, more than 120 athletes from India have qualified for the Tokyo Olympics. The games were to be held last year but were postponed due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
