Chelsea rewarded Thomas Tuchel on Friday with a new contract until 2024 when he won the Champions League for the first five months in power. The German joined the Blues in January in the ninth round of the Premier League. Chelsea, meanwhile, bounced back with the arrival of Tuchel, who rose to the table to win fourth place in Europe’s biggest club football award at Manchester City’s Oporto last weekend. “I can’t imagine an opportunity to renew his contract. I’m happy with the experience and I’m very happy to be part of the Chelsea family,” Tuchel said in a statement to the club.

Chelsea manager Marina Granovskaia added: “When Thomas joined us in January there were still a lot of things to play at home and in Europe. He went inside and immediately became part of the Chelsea family.

“Returning to the top four in the Premier League was key, and we couldn’t be happier with the success of the Champions League that crowned Chelsea’s great season.
