Virat Kohli, captain of the Indian men’s cricket team, is preparing for the World Test Championship final against New Zealand in Southampton. The team completed the quarantine and hit the ground before the scoreboard match. On Wednesday, he took to Instagram to share a photo with teammates Cheteshwar Pujara and Shubman Gill. “The sun brings out smiles,” the title says in the picture. Afghan footman Rashid Khan commented on the photo with three fire emojis, as the message garnered more than 350,000 likes just minutes after Kohli shared it.
The final of the WTC Opening Edition will begin on June 18th.
India topped the WTC scoring table, and New Zealand came in second.
The final was originally scheduled to be held in the Lord, but the venue was changed due to the need for a bio-bubble. Southampton’s Ageas Bowl has a hotel attached to the stadium to make it easier to keep a Bubble.
The Indian contingent arrived in the United Kingdom on 3 June.
New Zealand will join the WTC’s latest bio-bubble after the end of a two-match Test series against England.
The first match, at Lord’s, ended in a draw, and the second test will start on Thursday in Birmingham.
After the WTC final, the Indian Test team will stay in the UK in a five-match series against England that began in August.
