The Indian team is preparing for the final of the World Test Championship against New Zealand, which will be played in Southampton from 18 to 22 June. The players came out of isolation and started training for the big game. Senior spinner Ashwin Ravichandran posted a video of the Bowl during a training session at the Ageas Bowl. He said, “Good to be out there and play Cricket again !!”

The 34-year-old has an excellent record against the left, and is the only spinner in history in a game that has thrown 200 bats from the left. New Zealand has three left-backs among the top six: Devon Conway, Tom Latham and Henry Nicholls. There are also two others by Mitchell Santner and Neil Wagner.

Ashwin is also the world record holder for Indian trials at the World Championships and third overall with his 67 trials in 13 test matches. Pat Cummins is at the top with 70 games in 14 games, followed by Stuart Broad’s 69 layoffs in 17 games.

However, on the New Zealand side, Tim Southee is only number 5 in the mix with 51 tries, 10 tries.

Against New Zealand, Ashwin has 48 tests out of six test matches, five played in India and another in New Zealand.

As a test batsman, Ashwin has also helped well, especially with Hanuma Vihari to save the Sydney 256-ball stand.

Later in February, Ashwin also scored a century in the second round of the home series against England.
